What is a service?
A motor vehicle service or tune-up is a series of maintenance procedures carried out at a set time interval or after the vehicle has travelled a certain distance. The service intervals are specified by the vehicle manufacturer in a service schedule and some modern cars display the due date for the next service electronically on the instrument panel. A tune-up should not be confused with engine tuning, which is the modifying of an engine to perform better than the original specification, rather than using maintenance to keep the engine running as it should.
The completed services are usually recorded in a service book upon completion of each service. A complete service history usually adds to the resale value of a vehicle.
We highly recommend you regularly service your car. Servicing keeps your car running at its best and reduces the risk of it breaking down when you most need it. During a service, we will inspect your car and replace parts that are aged or worn, to keep it running smoothly and reliably. This will save you money in the long run as you face fewer big bills caused by major components, such as the engine or suspension, breaking due to a lack of maintenance.
The type of service you choose is really important because, depending on the service your car last had, it may need a more thorough inspection than usual, or vital parts may need replacing.
